The Heritage Center – The 1599 Charter Room
1. The 1599 Dernbach Charter stands as one of the most sacred and defining documents in our family’s history—an enduring bond that ties us directly to the lives, legacies, and lineage of our earliest ancestors. Within its carefully preserved script, the Charter affirms our descent from Theodoric I, Margrave of Meissen, our 27th great‑grandfather, whose leadership helped shape the foundations of the House of Wettin–Dernbach..

2. It also honors Maria, our 27th great‑grandmother and Theodoric’s first wife, whose lineage and motherhood gave rise to Heinrich von Dernbach, the ancestor through whom our line continues. Her presence in the Charter reminds us that heritage is carried not only through rulers and warriors, but through the women whose lives and legacies ensured the continuity of our bloodline.
History is not confined to the past—it lives within us. At the House of Wettin–Dernbach Heritage Center, every room is a bridge between centuries, where cutting‑edge exhibits reveal how our ancestors shaped the world we inherit today..
